Magnolia Springs

Named for the crystal-clear spring water flowing through the area, Magnolia Springs State Park spans more than 1,000 acres between Perkins and Millen, Georgia. A boardwalk over the water allows visitors to look for alligators, turtles and other wildlife near the springs. Cyclists and hikers can explore 5 miles of trails. The park is one of 18 statewide that take part in the Muddy Spokes Club, encouraging member cyclists to finish a 3-mile loop and work toward earning a t-shirt. A small lake is open for fishing and there are canoes and kayaks available to rent. Kids can enjoy the seasonal splash pad and 3 playgrounds. Overnight guests can choose to stay in one of the park’s 9 cottages or at the campground.

During the Civil War, the area was known as Camp Lawton, which served as a prison stockade. Visitors can now see artifacts from soldiers on display at the park museum.
