Little Creek Horse Farm

The Little Creek Horse Farm and Park is a 40-acre site dedicated to equestrian services and a wooded area that currently has a small picnic area as well as walking trails.

Traversing across the entire property from east to west is the South Fork Peachtree Creek.  The majority of the property, with the exception of the immediate area around the horse barn and parking lot, is located in a floodplain where medium to heavy rains can partially flood the pastures and wooded areas of the park.

Little Creek Horse Farm and Park was farmed by the Sargent family since before the Civil War.  Originally hundreds of acres, sections of the historic farm became the subdivisions and retail areas in the neighborhood. The heart of the farm continued as a private equestrian facility until acquired by DeKalb County for the public. Many visitors first experienced horses as children at Little Creek and now bring their children or grandchildren.

The Park surrounds the intersection of Little Creek and the South Fork of Peachtree Creek. It is low-lying land largely in the floodplain and therefore not suited to development. With the support and vision of the Conservancy, the land makes a wonderful addition to DeKalb County’s park and greenspace system.

Little Creek Farm Conservancy was formed in May 2004 to support the County’s acquisition and enhancement of the farm into a Park. The Conservancy provides programming and raises funds for capital improvements.
