Grassy Pond
Nestled in the small town of Lake Park, Georgia, Grassy Pond offers 500 acres of campgrounds, nature trails, fishing, boating, and more outdoor fun. The park’s most popular feature, its cabins and cottages, are available for nightly or weekly rentals. Two and three-bedroom cabins are a perfect place for the whole family, including your family pet! For an additional fee, you can reserve a designated pet-friendly place to stay.
While staying at Grassy Pond, you can spend your getaway playing volleyball or basketball on the courts near the main entrance. The main office has ball and outdoor game rentals as well as snacks and drinks for your mid-game break. A nice playground with swings and slides is also nearby for kids. All of these amenities overlook the pond and its multiple docks, which offer a place to fish, launch your boat, look for gators, or just admire the lily pads. Want a more traditional camping experience? Grassy Pond also has tent sites and RV campgrounds for reservation.

An overnight trip isn’t for everybody. Grassy Pond still has plenty to offer for the day trip visitor! Screened-in shelters are available to rent for family reunions, birthday parties, or just a casual hang-out. The shelters have picnic tables and fans to fight the South Georgia humidity. There are also outdoor picnic areas and grills scattered throughout the grounds.

Take a walk on one of Grassy Pond’s three nature trails, but be on the lookout for alligators! Grassy Pond is known for its big gators, sometimes 14 feet long. They’re common in the South Georgia region and are usually non-threatening, but shouldn’t be fed or provoked. Rent a boat or bring your own for a day on the water. Fishers with a Georgia State Fishing License and Moody Air Force Base Fishing Permit can expect to catch largemouth bass and channel catfish in Grassy Pond’s water. (Licenses and permits are required to fish at Grassy Pond.)
