The Cheshire Farm Trail spans the South Fork of Peachtree Creek as it flows underneath the Ga. 400 fly-over, along the edge of I-85, between Cheshire Bridge Road and Lindbergh Drive. Access points include Lindbergh Road (across from Meadow Loop Trail) and Cheshire Bridge Road. It is named for the Cheshire family, which settled the area in the 19th century, raised a family and built a farm.
Parking: On-street parking is available on Lindridge Drive and Armand Road where they connect with Lindbergh Drive. Or take MARTA to the Lindbergh station, then walk east on Lindbergh till you see the trail sign after passing under the highway. MARTA has several bus routes on Lindbergh, too.
| Travel along Lindbergh Drive near I-85 and you’ll see dump trucks moving in and out of a construction site. If you’re curious about what’s happening behind the black silt fence, here’s a recap and the latest info on the project. |

| In 1998, a federal judge ordered the city to clean its water. The consent decree requires Atlanta to separate its water and sewage systems to prevent raw sewage from contaminating waterways. In January 2024, Atlanta’s Department of Watershed Management (DWM) began work on a $145 million stormwater diversion system along the North Fork of Peachtree Creek near I-85 and Lindbergh Drive. This is the largest stormwater project undertaken by the City of Atlanta since that decree was issued. |

| DWM is now constructing a 15-million gallon holding tank below the I-85 overpasses. That much water could fill nearly 23 Olympic-sized swimming pools! An overflow pump will sit directly above the Cheshire Farm Trail, which closed in 2024. It is slated to open in 2027 as a 12-foot-wide paved walkway stretching from Lindbergh Drive to Cheshire Bridge Road.
DWM says that erosion-control and stormwater-prevention measures have been installed to protect the creek from adjacent construction activities. The department recently confirmed that subsurface utility work will continue between Lindbergh and CheshireBridge Road for the next 14 months. |

| In 2026, construction is scheduled on a permanent retaining wall to protect the widened trail, which will be paved that fall. All walls will have granite facing. Some landscaping is scheduled for fall 2026, with the remainder, including native plantings, completed the following spring. The city will also install an overlook, lights, and a security camera connected to the police department. |
